As a counsellor, my role is to help support you through the challenges you are facing. Together we can effectively create approaches, strategies, and opportunities for making positive changes. It is a collaborative process that leads to improved moods, better emotional regulation, improved relationships, and stronger resilience. I work with individuals through a variety of life challenges, most specifically focused in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and addiction. I have a passion for understanding the unique factors of how mental health relates to men, and working through those specific challenges. In our sessions you will learn skills to feel grounded, and gain an awareness of what may be going on beneath the surface. We will work together on ways in which you can effectively grow and find solutions to your own unique challenges. These solutions are not limited to self-improvement, but also the view we have of ourselves and others around us.
Evan holds a Masters of Counselling Psychology from Adler University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with a Major in Psychology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. He is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in good standing with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (License # 17610).
Presently, Evan works in private practice at an interdisciplinary clinic as well as working as the trauma specialist at a few local treatment centres in Abbotsford.
When not working, Evan can often be found spending time with his wife and daughter, or in his garage practicing woodworking and tinkering with his classic 1965 Mustang.
Registered Clinical Counsellor (#17610) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors
In counselling I use a trauma-informed approach that is tailored to the specific goals and needs of the client that I am currently working with. All of the methods I use come from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Adlerian Therapy.
